Next Stop, Dublin Station!

DUBLIN STATION is comprised of married musicians Lauran and J. Oscar Bittinger who spent the last 8 years performing with the popular Irish traditional band Oxter/Mahone. As Dublin Station they bring the contemporary sounds of the Celtic and Americana traditions to the fore, brushing away the dust of nostalgia in search of the authentic spirit of the music.
Though they've played traditional music for many years, their past includes adventures in rock, power-pop, and improvisational bands. The "devil-may-care" attitude, playfulness and energy of those styles is infused in the DUBLIN STATION blend of folk and celtic traditions.
The band name itself combines "Dublin", the modern, international Irish city steeped in history with "station", a platform for arrivals and departures (and all their attendant emotions and stories).
DUBLIN STATION's songs & tunes come from living traditions and artists (including their own experience). They speak of the comfort, conflict and continuity of love, hope in hard times, joys and losses from the passage of time. From individual loneliness to the troubles and joys of the community; from voyages to distant places to wisdom found down at ones own local.
DUBLIN STATION have performed with artists such as The Milroys, Drew Nelson, Ralston Bowles, Jan Krist, Dave Boutette, Annie & Rod Capps at such venues as The Ark and The Old Town (Ann Arbor), One Trick Pony (Grand Rapids), Nor East'r Festival (Mio, MI), Roots on the River Concert Series (Mansistee).
